Final Cut Pro Crashes Computer

I have been using Final Cut Pro, version 10.4.10, for video editing. I have been storing my projects on an external hard-drive . . . Recently, I went on a trip and unplugged my external hard-drive. When I returned, I plugged the external hard-drive with my projects on it back in. Everything seemed fine . . . When I tried to export a new project, though, to You Tube, not only did Final Cut Pro crash, but my entire computer crashed and restarted. I thought maybe there was a problem with uploading the video to You Tube, so I tried to export the video to my external hard-drive. The same thing happened. Any ideas?

Thanks again, Ian! I think I solved this problem . . . It looks like Final Cut did not like the sound file I was using . . . I deleted the preferences and it worked with two other projects. When I tried to export with the project with the strange sound-file, it crashed again . . . so I think that's the issue.

Again, I really appreciate your prompt and helpful response.

Thanks so much for the prompt response!

Good question. There might be a problem with the sound file. I imported it from a recording app on my iPhone called HIT Recorder and then dropped it into iTunes. The sound file looked normal, but might have caused a problem for Final Cut. I successfully exported a different video file, so that might be it. I am away from my computer now, but will check again tomorrow.
