Will there be another 17" macbook again?

I'm an older graphic artist in need of a new computer. Mine is from 2010 and can't be updated to the newer system anymore even thought it works great. I guess apple doesn't really care about the environment. Since this perfectly good computer is going to have to go to the landfill like so many of its brothers. The second problem is that the screens on the other laptops are too small for my aging eyes and I can't carry a large computer everywhere with me that I need it. What are my choices? Can I upgrade the hard drive on my oldy but goody?

Thanks for your help and suggestions

Apple just released a 16" MBP after years of no 17"— so it is highly unlikely you will see a 17"

Apple has a trade in /recycling program and not advised to "go to the landfill" that is short sighted.

Apple - Trade in

Apple is not here. We users do not know what Apple plans for the future, and if we did we could not discuss or speculate here.

It is quite a leap to say Apple does not care about the environment because they no longer produce a 17 inch computer.

They do make a 16 inch computer.

FWIW, I would not spend any money trying to upgrade a 10 year old computer.

Not only are my eyes not great but I’m also poor so having to shell out $2000 every 10 years because apple would rather recycle than reuse or upgrade is unfair.

Is there a solution where I can keep my computer and have it upgraded so I can run 10.15 on my 2010 MacBook Pro?

maybe apple could have a buy back program to help there customers out especially ones that have been with them since the 80s?

BGE will give you $50 for old appliances

Technology moves on. It is not Apple's fault that users and the industry demand progress. New technology does not work with old obsolete/vintage products. The same applies to cars, TVs, Cameras, Video/audio equipment, household appliances, etc.

No.

Thanks bobthefisherman.

I drive a 25 year old vehicle I bought used with almost 300,000 miles and it’s working great. No one is telling me I have to up grade it.

and the trade in is only $50 which can only be used with apple. No cheap solutions on their site. If they gave me $50 I could go buy something used for cheaper.

I love my computer. It works great! Why do I have to part with it? They really need to do better. COVID has been hard enough on the self employed (all people actually ). And no, it’s not just apple, this is the software companies too. They are all letting us down.

but thanks for the help. I was just looking for a way I could hold on to my dwindling savings a little longer.

I drive a. 19 year old vehicle. But it is not GM's fault that I can't add a computerized fuel management system to it. I can keep using my old truck as designed. Just as you can keep using your old computer as designed. When my vehicle no longer does what I want/need, I'll have to trade it in for a new $$60K model. When my obsolete/vintage computer no longer does what I want/need, I'll have to get a new one.

I won't get much trade in on my old vehicle either.

You don't have to part with it as long as it is doing what you want/need.

But thanks for the help. I was just looking for a way I could hold on to my dwindling savings a little longer.

We are all trying to do the same. That's why I drive an older vehicle. It is a difficult time for many.
