A few days ago, I sent an inquiry to a government consumer protection. website. Unfortunately, I neglected to record their name or URL. Anyway, do you have to be some kind of technical super-sleuth to find such messages on your computer, or is there a method that the average man can use? No, they haven't answered, and their answer in important to me and, I think, thousands and thousands more.

If the FBI or some other agency had installed a keystroke logger on your computer, they could see everything you had typed. As it seems unlikely that has happened, the information is lost in the ether.
It's been a very long time since I've looked at the output from a keystroke logger but, as I recall, they required quite a bit of effort to glean useful information as they store EVERY keystroke.
If you filled out a webform, which is what it sounds like you did, the message is not stored on your computer and there is no way to track it.
I guess I've been spoiled by all the accounts (fictitious?) of the FBI or other agencies going through someone's computer. The truth is disappointing, but thanks for the truth.
