Apple Screensaver not showing clock overlay correctly, how do you adjust settings?

Hello,

My screensaver clock is not working properly, and not sure how to fix?

System Preferences/Desktop and Screensaver-

Currently set to the 'Shell' screensaver, I have the 'Show with clock' option check-marked. Once the screensaver starts running, the 'Shell' screensaver image runs as expected, but at the top of the screen is only shown 'Oct', which is the correct month, but I would like to see the time of day here instead, not the date. How do you change these settings? Thanks in advance!

Hi there, AppleLA27!

Thanks for reaching out to the Apple Support Communities! It sounds like you have an issue with the clock not showing on your screensaver for the Mac. Does the issue happen with all screensavers or only the Shell screensaver?

Let's start by following the steps in this article for Reset NVRAM or PRAM on your Mac. Then, test to see if you still have the same issue.

Next, we recommend taking a look at this article with steps to follow for How to use safe mode on your Mac. This will perform checks and stop certain software from starting up automatically. Once you are in safe mode, test to see if you have the same issue.

Let us know the results and have a great day!
