Macbook battery replacement

Have you experienced a poor battery replacement experience, like waiting for a whole month? Giving to an Appel Store a perfectly functioning macbook for a battery replacement. Hearing a week later that the technician has "unfortunately" destroyed the motherboard. Then hear that you are lucky not to be charged with the replacement of the motherboard (..). And start waiting for the repair to be done. How long? A day? A week? A month? I conclude that Apple products are fine as long as they work. The day they stop, you better throw them away and buy something else.

There has to be more to this story than you're telling us? Did you actually to an Apple store (if so which one) or an Apple Authorised Repair Centre? Whichever it was did you make your concerns as well as your complaint plain to the store manager? Nothing will happen to address your poor experience unless you tell someone about it.

The current Covid-19 Pandemic must be having an impact in some way on just about everything including repair times. Some tolerance and patience would not go amiss.

Thank you for your attention and the time you are wasting in responding to my message. I gave the perfectly functioning MacBook on October 1 to the only Apple shop in Geneva/Switzerland. A few days later they called me to say that they (a technician in charge of the battery replacement) had killed the motherboard and that they had to wait for the arrival of a new motherboard. Now almost one full month waiting (and not knowing for how many weeks or moths more...) for the missing board. Frankly, I am disgusted with this kind of miserable spare parts logistics and stock management from Apple. My conclusion today is simple and clear. The Apple repair service is not trustworthy. You buy something, you use it and at the first issue, you throw it away. It lasts, whatever it lasts. A month, a day, a week, a month.. End of the story. So it is far better to buy cheaper products and in case of a problem, you do not waste tons of money in some promised (and supposedly quality purchase). You buy one of the tons of other similar, if not better and cheaper laptops and basta...

When the Retina Macbook was released the tech articles commented that it would be extremely difficult to "replace" the battery as it is spread throughout the internals of the computer, filling most available gaps.

I bought mine in the knowledge that battery replacement was highly unlikely and hoped that if the battery had defects they would show up during the extended (Applecare) warranty period. That did not happen. My Macbook is still performing well (touch wood) but the battery is only at 80% original capacity so I have to watch how I use it away from a power source.

It remains the best portable computer I have ever had and I am disappointed that Apple discontinued this model.

Thank you very much for your answer. I appreciate. Should I have known this, I wouldn't consider a battery replacement and use the device as it was: with 5% battery capacity! I wonder why the "professionals" at the Apple store in Geneva didn't tell me this? They are supposed to know. Now almost a month passed and still waiting. But at least thanks to you, I know why. Thank you very very much. Jack
