iPad Pro laptop replacement

Hello!

I wanted to start this out by saying I love my iPad, I really wanted to use this to replace a laptop, however I’m finding it somewhat difficult.

The iPads software feels extremely limiting when I compare it to what I’d like to be able to actually do on it, and that’s because of the software.

I used to have a Surface pro 4 a few years ago... and I loved it, I could accomplish so much with full PC capabilities on a portable tablet like device.

im just curious to know if apple would ever update, at least the pro models, to have a more optimized software similar to macOS as a means to directly compete with Microsoft surface, because as it stands, I’m sort of regretting the iPad Pro, and wishing I went with a new Surface instead.

I feel like apple hasn’t optimized the iPad software intentionally to entice their consumers to purchase a MacBook Air/pro. However I dislike the fact that it is not touch screen and doesn’t have the option to be a tablet only when I want it to be.

i almost want to sell my iPad and just go with a surface. Can anyone relate, or perhaps there are multitasking features in missing out on.

its just frustrating that I can’t take an application and set its size, and put one or two applications on top of near another while running things simultaneously.

i just feel if the iPad had MacOS or something very similar it would be be better.

Anyone care to share any thoughts?

That said, the iPad started out as a large scale portable portal to iTunes and has grown and adapted from there. The sandbox of the iOS and iPad OS operating system will always limit it’s ability to be like a real computer. The trade off of that is that ipads, and other iDevices in general, have a higher level of security since they do not have a file explorer that malicious actors can exploit.
