Help getting with on line calls.

I have been unable to get into my MacBook for the purpose of going on line to be part of a group call. I called for help today and was given a number where the person who tried to help me get into Safari it google Chrome which support this told me that my computer had been hacked and that it would cost to get rid of this , also that I didn’t have firewall protection and that it would cost me over $400.00 for two years of protection and to rid of the hackers. I said I needed 24 hour to think about this . Help is this a scam or what and can you help me.

Windows, Windows 6

Your call to 'help' likely wasn't actually to Apple, that started you in wrong direction.

The problematic situation reeks of Scam. Should've bailed on that before now.

Force quit your browser, restart with shift key held, clear cookies and history.

"Check your Applications folder to see if you have any apps that you didn’t expect and uninstall them

You can also check the Extensions tab in Safari preferences to check if you installed any unnecessary

extensions that you'd prefer to turn off. "

There are tons of helpful things, however to become & stay proactive

on the lookout for issues; be cautious. Bad-ware can affect your mac if

you happen to carelessly visit odd sites and take unnecessary chances.

PC windows-user thinking. ~ Even there, they've come a long way.}
