Robotic Siri Voice on New MacBook Pro

For reference, I have a MacBook Air from 2011, an iPhone 5S, an iPod Touch from 2019, I believe, and an iPad Pro 2. On all of these devices except for the MacBook Air, as I don't use Siri on there, he sounds like a normal human being. (I alternate between male Australian and male British voices for my Siri.) On my brand new MacBook Pro, he sounds extremely robotic, like back in the day of the text to speech voices like Cello and Bubbles from the old blue, indigo, and other colored chunky iMacs. What gives? I need my smooth talking personal assistant back.

What do you have configured in the Date & Time Preference Pane? Specifically the part where you can enable a chosen voice to "announce the time". Click the "customise voice" button to see all the voices available. Perhaps "Fred" or "Bruce" have been selected? What do you have configured in Siri's Preference Pane? Serena or one of the others?

Perhaps the settings in both got mangled somehow and one or both need disabling and re-enabling again? Just a thought.

When you click "Play" for the System Voice do you hear "Hello my name is Serena. I am a British English voice"?

As this is literally a brand new laptop and if you've not installed any 3rd Party software or utility in the time you've had it, then take it back to the store and show them the problem. I'm sure they'll be happy to help.

Good luck and I hope you get the problem sorted.
