Why is my iCloud using so much storage for photos???

Hi— so my friend has 5,000 + photos and her iCloud is only using 37 of the 50 GB storage plan she has.

Meanwhile, my iCloud is storing about 1,000 LESS photos than her, and my iCloud is using 180 of my 200 GB storage plan. Why are my photos taking up so much more space???

How do I reduce the amount of storage they are taking up?

What settings do you have enabled under Settings > Name > iCloud > Photos, e.g. is Optimize Phone Storage enabled or Download and Keep Originals?
