Why is “other” taking up space in my iPhone?

I have 65 GB ON MY IPHONE and “other” is taking up 35 Gb! How can I find out what that is and how can I get rid of it or at least make it less?

iPhone 8 Plus, iOS 13

That "OTHER" is taking up way too much space than it should on your iPhone.

What is “Other” storage on a Mac, and how can I clean it out?

If you can then you can update to iOS 14 and that will reduce the data in that category. If you cannot update to iOS 14 for any reason then you can follow the instructions in this guide published by Apple ➔ How to Clear OTHER Category on your iPhone.
