Hey there! I’ve seen this after the update as well, I think HP drivers are out of date and need to be updated to work. Here’s what worked:

First, if updating the software manually doesn’t work:

Open Finder, on the top menu hit Go > Computer > Macintosh HD (Usually) > Library > Printers.

Save (If you need to, and Delete the HP folder from there, (You’ll notice when clicking “Show in Finder” when you get the errors, these are where the files are, in this case old, outdated drivers and files).

Once deleted, open System Preferences > Printers and Scanners.

Right click (or Control click) select “Reset Printing System”, (This will delete any existing Printers and Scanners).

Once done:

If USB Printer, dis connect/re connect, you may see the option to “Install” the new HP software.

If a wireless “AirPrinter”, just hit the “+” sign to re-add the printer and select “Add”.

Do a test print to make sure it’s working again!

This is Gatekeeper, Mac’s security doing its job, most likely if you’re getting that error message, it’s a good thing to remove the older software.

Hope it all goes well!

Downloading the HP Printer Drivers v5.1 for OS X as mentioned in the thread solved the problem for me not being able to scan with my HP 6700 all in one. And I stated at the beginning of the thread, the malware message would come up for "HP Scanner 3" and this download fixed that.

Totally stupid this should suddenly be broken for all of us.

Sorry, I didn't know that it can't find older printers. The driver solution didn't work for me, I still kept getting the error messages. Until, I removed the network printer and then let the Smart Desktop App recognize my printer using Secure Airprint did it start working again. I'm sorry it didn't help you. I hope it helps others. I still think both companies need to get toghther and find a solution.

This work like a charm

1 install hpsmart app

2 go to system preferences—> printer & scanners —> select printer in question —> press delete button on keyboard—> answer you if it asks for confirmation.

we had three duplicates so deleted as well

next you need to be able to find a pdf as a test file for next step

3 open hp smart

4 it should see a printer and display it

5 Click on blue button in the middle left side for printing.

6 I will do some stuff and then give a notice that it only can print PDFs from this application which is great. say OK and then there will be a screen / list of files that you can print from you just have to navigate or do a search and find the PDF document. Print it ( just first page is fine) and that will work hopefully. It worked for me.

6a So if that works now you should be able to try other documents in other applications. So close H P app now.

7 so I open the word application and print a document. So try it with the application if your choice and see what you got good luck.

You will be adding a GENERIC printer (and making it your default printer) for the time being. Use this article to help you, but the IP address you will need can be found by touching the little "wireless icon" in the upper corner of your printer's control screen. It's the thing that looks like a radio tower. Then following the instructions for adding a printer. You may call it whatever you like. Should work pretty easily. Specifically, see instruction #4.

I have downloaded the latest drivers etc for the printer. It stumbled a few on times on install saying

“HPDM.framework” will damage your computer.

I clicked report the box to report to apple and hit return - it carried on installing

Now it does print, but before every print I get a pop up box that says

“HPDM.framework” will damage your computer.

If I hit OK the only real option, then it prints the page.

Does anyone have a clue about what is happening - do I have a Malware attack?
