How do I cancel a stuck Xcode update?

When I click on it to stop nothing happens. I also can't do anything with the Xcode icon on Launchpad - it has been stuck at 2.87 GB out of 11.26 GB for days.

"Other" storage occupying 80% of 250GB To the point I cannot update Xcode nor can I reveal what is in "Other" storage. I have 16GB available. One post, regarding clearing other storage, said it would be freed as needed but this is obviously not the case. I can't find anything about "Other" storage.

xcode update won't complete Xcode had an update and after 1 hour it It gets almost done but hangs there saying it is still installing. I can't delete Xcode and it won't complete.
