AirPods Pro keep randomly playing music from unknown source

This was happening to me. I did all the above-mentioned steps. Only to realize, my Air Pods were connected to my IPad that my child was using to play games on. Once I toggled off the Bluetooth on the IPad the music stopped. When in doubt ask your kid.

The audio could be from your Mac.

On each device, there is a setting where you can stop auto switching to that particular device.

So you can stop auto switching to your Mac, to prevent your AirPods switching to audio playing somewhere in a browser tab.

It seems like your AirPods are playing music randomly even without any apps open. Have you tried to restart your iPhone?

If the issue persists, you can also try to unpair your AirPods:

Reset your AirPods

Does this happen when you're not using AirPods, but another type of headset?

This happens to me too! I followed all the steps suggested above and it is still happening.

Just read a few other support forums and saw the suggestion below, just tried this so hopefully it works!

Go to settings. Go to cellular. Scroll down to find music. Toggle off.

Mine is doing it as well. I have an android but I figured out restarting your phone stops this from happening. (It will happen everytime you connect the airpods) and I can see how this is annoying having to restart your phone everytime you want to play music. Anyway, Cheers.

Something in a browser window?

I wasn’t listening to anything and music started playing. My iPad wasn’t open at the time. No music app open on my iPhone. Any ideas?

The issue is that whenever reconnecting with my phone the AirPods automatically play the very first audio recording from voice memos. It’s very strange and very frustrating.

Just a minute ago, it played the last song from my iPhone. Seems to be OK, but still unexpected because I was listening to music from my iPad before I picked up my AirPods Max.

At one point, it was the audio from a video I played on my Mac. There was a play icon in the menu bar with some controls, but no music title.

If AirPods Max resumes to play content, it should be from the last device you were listening content from (my opinion).
