is it possible to trade-in a locked iphone

If you mean activation locked, no. The phone must be restored to factory settings with Activation Lock off.


If you mean carrier locked (SIM locked), Yes it can be SIM locked to trade it in.


If you mean the screen is locked you will have to restore it to factory settings—>If you forgot the passcode on your iPhone, or your iPhone is disabled - Apple Support
