Cannot comment on Youtube from Safari on macOS Catalina 10.15.5

I tried on Chrome with the same account and was able to leave the comment so nothing to do with the channel or video or my YouTube account. I have had this issue with other videos too.

I had also switched to a different Youtube account thinking maybe the creator of the video had mysteriously blocked me but, like I said, that was not the issue.

Any solution apart from using Chrome? I prefer Safari. I tried disabling Adblock but was still unable to comment. The comment button is greyed out as if it is not detecting a reply has been typed.

Replying to other people's comments seems fine. It is just if I make a new post under a video.

Thanks for letting us know the steps you tried. We can continue to isolate further. To do that, we recommend creating a new user and testing YouTube in Safari: Set up users, guests and groups on Mac

You can also try testing in safe mode to see if this happens there as well: How to use safe mode on your Mac This article has additional steps to take if the issue does or doesn't continue after trying safe mode.

Hey there, burnt_toast22.

We understand that you're unable to leave comments as it is grayed out on YouTube videos when using Safari, but have no issues when using Chrome.

If you haven't already, we recommend quitting Safari: Quit apps on Mac Then restarting your Mac: Log out, sleep, restart, or shut down your Mac

Also, the latest macOS version is 10.15.7. When you can, you can backup your data and update to the latest macOS: How to update the software on your Mac

Hi, oh I was signed in with my account of course. That is not the issue. I have said I even tried switching to a different account.

It was a normal comment. Not too long or short. Didn't contain any bad language and I didn't spam it.

Hi, I had tried quitting Safari, restarting, etc. (just didn't mention it in the OP) but that didn't help. Even switching to a different YouTube account didn't do the trick. It seems a problem with the browser and YouTube.

At the time of my post I didn't have the update to the new OS version yet but I see one is available now so I will give that a try and see. Thank you.

I don't think the issue is with the comment itself as I was able to post the same exact comment just by using Chrome instead of Safari. It's nothing to do with my comments. It must be a Safari bug with Youtube.

You have to sign in with gmail address and password in you tube account to activate it , the larger comments might be blocked , use short sentence and if you continuously posting the same comment it will block .
