FWIW, Microsoft Edge is one of a number of chromium-based browsers which includes; Brave, Google Chrome, Opera, Vivaldi, etc. There's no "need" to download it. You can if you wish to try it.

Why? You already have a browser. I believe the item to which you refer is actually Chrome made to look like MS Edge.
If you want to use it then yes. If you don't want to use it then no.
