wrong device name

Although this remedy is a time consuming pain, it does work: sign out of your Apple ID in settings and then sign in again. It should then update to the correct name for the new iPhone.

Backup First: Make a backup of your device using iCloud or your computer. That way you can have something to restore your iPhone from.

What "delete" Means:

By "delete", it is referring to items in iCloud like Contacts. So, enable this information in iCloud to save it.

1. Go to: Settings
2. Tap: Your Name (The Top Item)
3. Tap: iCloud
4. Tap: Items to back up so they are green

Do you backup via iCloud? If so, you should not lose any data since it’s on iCloud already. For safety, go ahead and backup to iCloud before you log out so you have all the latest data stored safely in iCloud. Then log out and log back in...when you log back into iCloud, all that data should return to your device.

if you don’t feel comfortable, try waiting a day or two...the name should eventually update on its own to Apple servers.

if you haven’t restarted, try that...it might work. Also, if you pair your iPhone to an Apple Watch, restart that as well. Also force closing the Settings app and the. Relaunching it might help too.
