Will ask to buy prevent subscriptions and in app purchases from occurring without approval as well? I wasn’t aware ask to buy didn’t automatically turn on for child accounts that have been created until being charged for subscription after subscription out of the blue one day. The article I found does not mention in app purchases or subscriptions.

The best way to control purchases for a child is by setting up Family Sharing and then enabling Ask To Buy. When a child initiates a new purchase or free download, Ask To Buy allows parents to approve or decline the request.
