Hello, kristie-lee32

Here are three things to do before you take your iPhone to get repaired.

  • Remove your SIM card

This may seem obvious but worth stating nevertheless. It is a good practice to keep the SIM ejector tool handy exactly for such situations when you need to hand over your device. You can use your existing SIM card in any other smartphone, even if you’re switching from iPhone to Android (or vice-versa).

  • Remove Security Locks

If there is a PIN, pattern lock or fingerprint authentication involved, then you’d want to disable it. This will allow the technicians working on your phone to easily test the performance of your phone, once they believe they have fixed everything.

  • Backup & Reset

If you have sensitive data on your iPhone, then you can reset it before handing it over. Be sure to take a full backup of your iPhone before you go any further. However, also ensure you keep a note of your phone’s IMEI and Serial number details with you. This ensures peace of mind if you suspect foul play while submitting your iPhone for repair. Go to Settings > General > About.

To reset your iPhone Follow the steps below:

  • MAKE SURE YOU BACKED UP YOUR IPHONE FIRST
  • Go to Settings
  • Click 'General' (You may have to scroll down)
  • Scroll down to 'Reset'`
  • Click erase all content and settings

What this will do is erase all of the data on the iPhone, Backing up your iPhone will save your iPhone settings and data to a computer at home. When you are done with your repair you can put all of the data back on your iPhone. TIP: only erase the data/settings if you really feel like you will need to, if you don't backup your iPhone correctly then you could be risking all of the data on your device.

Have a good day,
