Setting keyboard shortcuts for Finder services

This isn't a question. It's a solution.

I created a new Finder service that opens the selected file/folder in VSCode. I added a keyboard shortcut to the service, and it failed to work. I relaunched Finder, and it still didn't work. I ran the service from the context menu, and it worked, but the keyboard shortcut still did nothing.

I googled and found a discussion about it from 2015 on Mountain Lion. The OP made it work by running the service from the Finder main menu (not the context menu). After doing that, the keyboard shortcut worked. I tried that, and got the same results.

So, my keyboard shortcut works (yay!), but I wanted to post this out here in case anyone else has this problem. FYI, I'm running Catalina (10.15.7). I find it amazing that this workaround is still required after (at least) 5 years.
