Is anyone else experiencing a bright reflection when shooting towards a light source. On both the 1x and 2x I am getting a bright reflection that appears in the photo. (iPhone 12 pro was not listed in the device options below)

I have contacted Apple and they are replacing my iPhone 12 Pro after I sent them sample photos of the ghosting/reflections in the images. A $300 point and shoot digital camera produces lens flare, as does a $10,000 professional DSLR kit--but neither will produce the ghosting/reflecting I and others are seeing with photos taken with these faulty Apple lenses. The problem Apple has with the iPhone lens is NOT lens flare, it's ghosting/reflecting.
I did a camera test with my iPhone X and I had nice lens flares--as was to be expected--but again I didn't see any ghosting/reflections like I am seeing with the 12 Pro. If the replacement phone has the same issue, I'm going to get a refund. There is nothing "Pro" about using a camera that doesn't work as advertised.

If i had knew it before i would’t go for the repair. Do you know if the phone is now with the new rear unit as good as new?
If they replaced the rear unit it has the equivalent quality as new.

That is not normal lens flare and I would elevate this with Apple Support. I believe you have an issue with the sensor in the camera.
The better lens does create the better picture.
Cameras are not magic; taking a heavily backlit photo like that is never recommended.
Probably, although it would look a little different. You have the added problem in this photo of a light range that exceeds the dynamic range of the sensor.

There are tests showing that like most filters, it can cause fogging and glare issues itself.
Yes, and apple is denying it is a problem almost a year later.
I thinks it is the slightly raised bevel around each lens that is refracting light in a random fashion. 8+ one gets great lens flare and control it.
This is a refraction problem. HORRIBLE
Not like on the 12pro even in daylight. The 8+, same lighting, no problem. Faulty product.
Not faulty, completely normal.
Lens flare is also a major issue on the iPhone 8 as can be seen by a quick search of this forum, let alone others.
I never had flares with my Iphone 8 plus, maybe a few if in direct sunlight but never from streetlights and christmas lights like I get on my 12 pro max.
Did u replace the camera or the whole phone and how did u replace it please lemme know..!
