How to use my iMac as a monitor for MacBook Pro

Hi, I would like to sometimes use my Apple iMac 27 as a monitor for MacBook Pro.

I saw that this option will bee able for earlier OS, using thunderbolt cable, but for Catalina is not able.

Is the any other way to use this option?

Use your iMac as a display with target display mode - Apple Support

What model year for the iMac and the MacBook Pro? If the MacBook Pro is 2020 the iMac must be 2009 or 2010. If the MacBook Pro is 2019 or older, the iMac can be 2009 to mid 2014.

Catalina is not a problem for the MacBook Pro, but the iMac must be using High Sierra or earlier.
