I noticed that when I go into my sound preferences, there's an audio device called "MMAudio Device.' I'm assuming it's from something I installed at recently, but I've removed the programs (and honestly can't remember specifically what they were called), and I can't find how to remove this device.
My searches tell me to visit ~/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/HAL but I do not have a HAL folder in Audio > Plug-Ins.
Any advice?

Just in case, while you're in the Finder, Press Command Shift G, then paste in either…
/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/HAL
or
~/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/HAL
That will open the respective library.
No, I used AppCleaner as I always do.
I don't recall the program(s) (honestly can't remember which ones I was fiddling around with -- I was trying something out) having an uninstaller.
Where could this device be hiding so I can remove it manually?
Did you look in /Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/HAL instead of ~/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/HAL?
The uninstaller for that program should have removed it. Did you run their uninstaller?
What is the difference?
One is a user library and one is a system library.
