HP DeskJet F4400 printer driver for MacBook Air 2020

Hello, I used to print with my HP Deskjet F4400 series and now I have problem I can't print.

I got a message "inkjet1.driver" will damage my computer. My OS is updated 10.15.7

I'm not able to print.

Could please advise how to install proper driver? Where to find it.

PS: depending on the region and vintage of print products

if the maker has no updated drivers, third party sources used

to be adequate. Before Catalina macOS 10.15.x was different

matter, due to 32-bit vs. 64-bit issue. (reference: Go64.)

• There appears to be an official driver download according

to HP site for 'Catalina macOS' from Aug 4, 2020 ~ via link:

• HP Deskjet F4400 All-in-One Printer series Software and Driver Downloads |HP Support

https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/HP-Deskjet-F4400-All-in-One-Printer-series/3742084

Should their driver provide usefulness to your HP F4400,

that'd be good. Another cause of issue, may need further

investigation. Third-party print drivers appear depreciated.

Depending on if your previous macOS supported and used latest 64-bit printer drivers

or if had been using older 32-bit ones. These are among basic questions to answer.

The transition from pre- Catalina macOS 10.15.x toward last steps Catalina 10.15.7; said

widely ~ macOS (past Mojave 10.14.6) would no longer support 32-bit driver software.

If you'd not looked into Go64 for recent relevant good info elsewhere, its near past time.

Free and helpful to review, and use tool as a guide, if you'd not read of this; see it now:

"Quickly scan your disk for applications, see which ones are 32-bit, and find upgrade info

with the click of a button." https://www.stclairsoft.com/Go64/index.html

Alternative 'print driver' software may be OK; if not - then, get newer supported printer.

Good luck & happy trails!🏕🎣

I have a Mac Book Air 2017 running Catalina 10.15.7.

Today my HP DeskJet F4140 All in One Printer that quit working with multiple errors. The root problem appeared to be an expired certificate. Poking around in the Hp forums I found the following:

The solution is to download (and install) this package (From HP FTP) which will update drivers AND THE CERTIFICATE:

ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software12/HP_Quick_Start/osx/Installations/Essentials/hp-printer-essen...

The install takes a bit. Let it run, even if it seems like it stalled out!

It is NOT the same as the driver package, Easy Start, or Easy Admin other people are recommending.

Towards the end you will need to allow HP to install an "extension" I think, just follow the instruction [enter your password to allow] then wait - be patient - it will finish.

Then uninstall your printer "-" and restart. After you restart add your printer "+" and test.

I called into Apple support after I was done and the only thing they recommended was to reset my NVRAM to clear an adobe error [not too sure where that came from].

This fixed it for me, printing is back on line. Hope this helps...

There's been some scrubbing at HP since October 30th..

And link(s) I had access to changed as well; they're gone.

Had you tried another version; seen if updated had appeared at 'HP Easy Start' on 123.hp.com.?

• Printer setup from the HP Official site:

https://123.hp.com/us/en/

• HP Printer Setup | HP Support

https://support.hp.com/us-en/printer-setup

Only other link I had, haven't tried to see if still works:

Same as above..

https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/HP-Deskjet-F4400-All-in-One-Printer-series/3742084

PS: seems the above link 'HP Deskjet' does not work for my Macs.

Sorry to not have access beyond these limits.

Take care & good luck!🐢🌤

The "scrubbing" was very effective, I haven't been able to get to my link. I finally got so disgusted with HP I went out and bought an Epson 3820 with AirPrint and support for Big Sur 11.0.1. Very happy with it. Easy Setup.

While I don't have the link I do have the downloads. They did not work on Big Sur hence the decision to buy the Epson.

If you go to the "GetInfo" you will see the full name of the FTP Link...[below]

ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software12/HP_Quick_Start/osx/Installations/Essentials/hp-printer-essentials-S-5_14_8_4.pkg

Again, after upping to Big Sur it did not work - could never find the printer as I remember.

Glad you've found a better resolution to this issue. Years ago I tried

HP printers. Also was forced to use one (helped relative who bought)

AIO HP. ~ That had lived out its 'entire warranty period' in storage NIB.

Later when desperately needed to print & fax medical, it was DOA;

after as-new setup & power-up. Even got newer ink, to try again.

HP was OK twenty+ years ago, with black-ink only, refillable cartridges.

My two Epson printers can still work fine, when I can find ink for them.

820 Photo and a later 845 WorkForce.

(Even so, I've 'brought-back from fossil' state, expired Epson inks, &

made good use them; after half-hour head clean intervals + CPR.)

Gave away an basic HP printer with extra cartridges, stored in garage.

That was a spare; bad experiences with 'new-in-box' AIO w/ fax, HP

keeps me from buying into landfill liners. Needed to send Fax, then.

DOA N.I.B. high-end HP with no warranty, and no repair service

while at the end of the road show, (almost near Homer AK.) Ugh!

Good luck & happy computing!🌞🎣⛵️🌎
