Read-only File System and /System/Volumes/Data folder

This move broke a lot of symbolic links that had been in production for years. At the very least, you could have put in a symbolic link that could access the /System/Volumes/Data folder. This limits the usefulness of Mac as an Open System workstation. I had these links set up to mimic the context on several Linux server so that shared software could work unmodified in both environments. This change broke all that, and without warning. Could we get a patch that allows access to '/' to look in /System/Volumes/Data if not found in the actual root folder?
