Headphone audio levels notification warning

I listen to music/spotify everyday and I just keep getting a notification that my volume is too loud.

Like 30min in on full volume and then I just get a warning about headphone audio levels, that my music/audio is playing too loud. And immediately the volume turns itself down to a half. Also the notification is just up there until I swipe it back up.

Is there any way to disable this? I looked into health app settings, iphone settings, searched for this on the internet but there is no one having this issue as me I guess?

It’s very unpleasant when for example I’m in the gym and I’m listening to music on my airpods. and then my music gets quiet so I need to drop the equipment to turn the volume back up.

Thanks in advance, Thomas

Good morning, xsull,

We understand that you need to stop your device from automatically warning you about the volume and adjusting your audio levels.

To change this setting, go to Settings > Sound & Haptics. Select Reduce Loud Sounds and then turn that feature off. This should prevent both the warning and the automatic adjustment. This article has more info:

Hi Apple.

This is a real issue for fitness instructors. We connect our iPhone to the studio’s amp and speakers to teach our classes. I have disabled this function on my phone and still the volume cuts down suddenly in a class which is not only annoying, it’s a real deal-breaker in a class setting. The phone does not recognise between headphones and a speaker in a room. Teaching a dance class with really quiet music is just not acceptable. Already I have members that are dissatisfied and will vote by waking out. This reflects badly on me and the gym I teach in, when the issue is not of our making.

I would really like Apple to sort this out quickly and make the disable function truly disable. Otherwise I’ll be forced to look at other options, which I really don’t want to do as I have been an Apple customer since owning a phone. I don’t want to get yet another device to carry around the gym.

thanks.

It looks like it is a new law about headphone audio levels in some countries, and Apple is forced to reduce loud sounds to a safe level. It is still unknown why other mobile device manufacturers are not doing this. Fitness trainers and music lovers or even artists may be affected by this and may need something else to play music, such as a another phone from another manufacturer or a offline method, such as a MP3 player or Walkman, even if these look like old times.
