iPad Pro (2nd) cases don't fit

I’ve tried (3 times) ordering a case for my iPad from Amazon and although the cases are described for a 12.9” iPad, none of them fit. Either my iPad has grown an inch or it’s not really 12.9. Mine measures 12” across and 14” diagonal. Is the 2nd Gen larger even though the description in settings says 12.9”.

There are two different types of 12.9 iPad Pro. They will be two different sizes, so you need to make sure you get the right generation

3rd/4th gen 12.9

Height: 11.04 inches (280.6 mm)

Width: 8.46 inches (214.9 mm)

Depth: 0.23 inch (5.9 mm)

Weight: 1.41 pounds (641 grams)

1st/2nd gen 12.9

Height: 12 inches (305.7 mm)

Width: 8.68 inches (220.6 mm)

Depth: 0.27 inch (6.9 mm)

Weight: 1.49 pounds (677 grams)

As you can see, even though it's the same size screen, they older generation iPads are bigger

So maybe you ordered 3/4th Gen 12.9 case instead of 1/2nd Gen. Hence why the case is smaller and your iPad looks to big, because it is, you have to buy 12.9 1st/2nd Gen compatible cases

Thanks for your response. When I received the case, the box read For iPad Pro 12.9" and the case measured 11" across. This is the third time I order from different companies and even though the packaging reflects 12.9", its always 11". Go figure. It's almost hilarious but frustrating at the same time. It's a good thing Amazon has a good return policy. Thanks for your help.

Your only option would be to buy an external trackpad or mouse and use it separate from a keyboard/case.

I did have a quick google and only can find keyboard with trackpads for the 3rd/4th gen.

So if you really want a trackpad/mouse you will need to buy a separate one.

I use a Magic Mouse 2 and smart keyboard on my iPad Air 3 when I don't want to use my MacBook Pro and it works really well and it's not too much effort to carry around the Magic Mouse 2, it's really light.

So that's your only option.
