New charging port
I have been looking at getting the iPhone 12 but with the new charging ports I’m concerned about how I will connect Apple CarPlay. My car only has USB ports

The port on the iPhone 12 is still a Lightning port -- the same as on previous models. You can use the Lightning to USB cable from a previous device or you can buy a new one: https://www.apple.com/shop/product/MXLY2AM/A/lightning-to-usb-cable-1-m
The cable that comes with the iPhone 12 is a Lightning to USB-C cable but you do not need to use that.
