iPhone 12 and Fitbit Versa 2 not syncing

My husband just got the iphone 12, an upgrade from his 7. His Fitbit Versa 2 will not sync. He wants it mainly for the sleep tracking, otherwise I would get him an Apple Watch. We've tried removing it and re-syncing and now it won't even recognize it. Any hints on how to get it to work?

I had this same problem with my Versa Lite and my new iPhone 12. I was on a chat with FitBit support while reading these comments. FitBit Chat mentioned the FitBit app hasn't been tested with this phone, thus it may not work. However, I restarted my phone, restarted my FitBit, turned bluetooth on and off - nothing worked. I finally "un-paired" it from my old iPhone and it was found on my new one. Easy fix and I'm thrilled I don't need a new FitBit!

Thank you for your suggestion Peter. It was a very complex problem and it had me puzzled for two days. You were right about it still being connected to his old phone but that was just the beginning. I turned off bluetooth on his old phone, reset the Versa several times, went through a lot of different steps, including factory reset of the Versa. When I was about to give up I tried connecting it as a Versa and not a Versa 2, and it worked like a charm. It had been connected to his iPhone 7 as a Versa 2 and had worked for nearly 2 years. He went to find his original box, and behold, it was just a Versa. Talk about a complicated puzzle. Thank you again for your reply!

I got it working with my wifes Charge 2. What specific thing I did which caused it to work I am not sure but I did the following (in no particular order).

1 Stopped it being paired with the old iPhone 6s

2 Deleted and reinstalled the app on the new iPhone 12

3 Deleted the charge 2 from the fiitbit account on-line

4 having done 3 re-added the charge 2 on the iPhone 12

5 turned bluetooth off and on at various times doing 1 to 4!

Eventually it paired. It did take quite some time for the phone to see the fitbit and for the pairing code to be displayed.

It is very disappointing that my new iPhone12 Max can't stay connected to my Versa 2. It took forever to get it connected the first time, and I thought all would be well, but it keeps losing it and every once in awhile it will decide to connect. The main way I've been successful is putting the Versa in the charger, even if it is already mostly charged. I've had 2 updates to the Versa and I was hopeful, but they didn't help at all. Rebooting, forgetting the device, bluetooth on and off, Versa looking for phone - all these things don't seem to help. I've only tried to connect bluetooth to one other device, and the phone had trouble with that too - haven't tried again. So since the Versa 2 did fine with my old phone, I think the issue is with the 12 Pro Max. Such a bummer to pay so much for a phone and then have all these issues!!

I am at the end of my tether with my charge 3 and new I phone 12. Although a Fitbit screen is shown on my I phone there are no steps. Just calories. Bluetooth is not recognising it either. Spent ages on the phone to Fitbit who are sending me another charge 3 but I don’t think that is the problem. I have wiped everything from my previous I phone. I spent ages onto Apple this morning and they are saying get in touch with Fitbit and and ask for them to do a configuration upgrade!!!! Surely every Fitbit owner would be up in arms if that were the case. Can anyone help me please
