Expired certificate for hp deskjet 3510 causing issues with Mac OS Catalina

I'm trying to help my Dad fix a problem that appeared on 10.24.20 with messages like:

"HPDeviceMonitoring.franework" will damage your computer. [checkbox] Report malware to Apple to protect other users.

My initial research indicates the problem is an expired certificate for his HP Deskjet 3510 all-in-one printer. I've tried multiple driver downloads from HP. None have fixed the problem yet. Any valid solutions out there? Thanks.

Update the software:

Open >System Preferences>Software Update (Command R will reload and do a fresh check)

Update: HP Printer Software 5.1 should now be becoming available through Software Update to fix this issue.

If you have continued issue:

ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software12/HP_Quick_Start/osx/Installations/Essentials/hp-printer-essentials-S-5_14_8_4.pkg

download link above at the ftp address. Install that, then remove printer and reinstall.
