I used my MagSafe charger charger for the first time on my new 12 pro and noticed it was getting really hot. I disconnected it and went to charge today and the phone will not charge with the MagSafe only with the thunderbolt

Is there a safety feature that needs to be reset if the phone overheats?

You iPhone addresses overheating and performance automatically. There is no setting that you can manually adjust.

Try and Force Restart your iPhone EXACTLY as shown below and see whether that resolves the issue:

  • Press and quickly release Volume UP button
  • Press and quickly release Volume DOWN button
  • Press and Hold the SIDE button until an Apple logo appears and then release the Side button (Can take up to 20 seconds. (DO NOT release Side Button when invited to Slide Power OFF).
