Wake alarm goes only to apple watch

I have an iPhone 11 promax and an Apple Watch Series 3. I’ve noticed since the last update that my white alarm goes to my Apple Watch, but not my phone at all. This is a problem because when my Apple Watch is on the charger, it obviously doesn’t vibrate on my wrist so it doesn’t wake me up. There are no sounds, even after I turn on the sound for my Apple Watch. I’ve been late to work because I can’t hear any kind of alarm to wake me up. Sleeping with the watch on my wrist is not an option. How can I turn off the alarm on my watch, but still have it on my phone?
