iPhone 12 magnet

Could the iPhone 12 magnetic ring be removed after purchase? Iā€™ve seen the videos showing it effectively just attached to the inside of the back case so looks possible... We have a medical device controlled by magnets that will stop all four of us upgrading to the 12 or any iPhone going forward with the magnet 😢

May I ask what type of medical device it is?

If it is a pacemaker, interferences are a very rare eventuality and from a brief review of the studies carried out in this regard, it is highlighted that interference is more likely to occur in cases where both devices are not technologically advanced. Furthermore, this electrical interaction does not always have a practical consequence that impacts cardiac activity.

It is sufficient to follow some simple precautions to avoid the risk of interference. It is good practice to keep the mobile phone at least 15 cm away from the pacemaker implant site. For example, do not keep the mobile phone in the shirt pocket if the pacemaker is implanted in the chest or in the belt if it is implanted in the abdomen. It is also better to use the headset during conversations, or the speakerphone, alternatively to converse with the ear opposite the side where the pacemaker is implanted.

Itā€™s a programmable shunt valve located in the head so really difficult to achieve any significant distance... the iPad magnet would be a problem but easier to keep that away from his head. This programmable type shunt is fitted in thousands of people to manage hydrocephalus, one of the more common neuro disorders. The shunt setting is altered by magnet so exposure to any magnet risks resetting the shunt with serious, potentially life threatening consequences. Not only will we not be able to use the 12 but he is going to have to be careful with friends phones around him...
