How can you turn off YouTube or Facebook videos using Voice Control?

It is not easy but I have found a way to pause YouTube videos on my iPhone (6s, ISO 14.0.1). 

I have setup a Shortcut called ‘Toggle media’ on the Shortcuts app, this is set to toggle play/pause on iPhone media. 

I then setup two custom commands in Voice control called 'Play Media' and ‘Pause Media’. The action of both is to run shortcut ‘Toggle Media’. 

When a YouTube video is playing I can say ‘Pause media’ to stop the video. 

Once the video is paused the video controls don’t auto-hide making it much easier to minimise or close the video. 

It would be ideal if Apple could build this command into voice control as this is only a work around for a lack of commands.

I have noticed that when in a You Tube video with the volume turned up you cannot say ANY command? I am sure this worked on previous releases. Is this the problem?

Or is it something different? It was always difficult to use the YouTube videos as the controls disappear from the screen and you cannot say the voice control command quickly enough for it to work.

We have seen the same issue on an iPhone 7 with iOS14.1

Do you know what devices the others you asked were using?

I tried on iPhone 11 iOS14.0.1. I also tried on an iPad (7th Gen) and iPad Pro (11 inch) both with iOS14.1 These all allow me to use voice commands and I can play and pause videos in You Tube using the "Show Grid" command.

This looks like it is device related. I have posted a request to the Apple Helpdesk. If I hear anything I will post it here.
