Apple Pencil becoming slow and glitching

When I am drawing or writing on either GoodNotes or notability, my Apple Pencil will sometimes glitch and draw lines that I never drew or big scribbles all over the screen that I never drew. Or in some cases the iPad will lag behind the pencil and the drawing will lag behind the Apple Pencil. Does anyone else have this issue? I don’t know if it could be down to my screen protector or a glitch with palm detection; although I don’t know what the lag could be from. Any ideas?

I would forget the device, you can do this in bluetooth within the settings.

Click on the I next to the pencil and press forget, then turn the iPad off and turn it back on.

The try and connect the pencil again and that may clear up some of the issues.

Which pencil and iPad is it?

How old is the pencil/iPad?

Has it all ways been like that?

It could be a faulty iPad/pencil, maybe because the devices are so new maybe your best to speak to Apple as they may have to replace the pencil/iPad

Ok no worries, when there is an issue with the pencil, other than disconnect, reset the Ipad and connect again there isn't much else which can be done from home so it would need to go to an apple store

I’ve disconnected and reconnected the pencil but I still have the same issues, I’ll try restarting my iPad. It is the 2nd gen Apple Pencil and the 12.9 2020 iPad Pro.

The lag issue seems to have been resolved now, thank you. I haven’t had an issue with the palm rejection yet but I’ll notify you if I do. I bought the iPad and Apple Pencil in July 2020.
