Photos stopped syncing

Photos just taken on iPhone are not synced to iMac. Last synced event appears to be Oct 18. Possible updates to iPhone and Mac may have occurred. There have been a lot. I'm not aware of any changes I have made to either device.

In a web browser, visit iCloud.com, log in with your Apple ID, go to the Photos area of the website.

If you cannot see those recent photos, then you have an upload problem on your iPhone.

If you can see those recent photos, then you have a download problem on your iMac.

One possible reason for a download problem on a Mac is (paradoxically) an upload problem; uploads must complete before downloads are attempted.

What version of iOS is running on your iPhone?

What version of macOS is running on your iMac?

Since you do see the recent photos on iCloud.com, the problem, is likely to be on the Mac side. Maybe you can do a simple check on the Mac while the phone is updating:

On your Mac, check at the bottom of the "All Photos" tab (at the top of the window when "Photos" is chosen in the left sidebar). You should see a line of bold text with the counts of photos and videos in your library, Below that, you should see a smaller, fainter line of text saying something like "Updating..." or "Updated Just Now" or maybe "Uploading" or "Unable to Upload".

Do you see that line? What does it say? (It may say two or three things over a few minutes.)
