Face ID to unlock Notes

I used to be able to use Face ID to open locked Notes, but now that I reset my phone from scratch, Face ID is not being offered for Notes. The only other change I made was to move my Notes into the iCloud Notes, from the Notes "On my Phone". I really want to be able to use Face ID and have my Notes backed up to the cloud...

Face ID no longer available for Notes on iPad All of a sudden I am no longer given the option to open my notes on my iPad with Face ID. I have tried everything I can think of from restarting my iPad, turning off and on Face ID for notes, Resetting Face ID all together, logging out and then back in to my Apple ID. Each individual Lochner requires me to enter a password and then once locked must be re-entered again. There’s no option to use face ID. My iPad is up-to-date and everything worked fine yesterday. Locked notes not prompting Face ID I am locked out of my locked notes in the Notes app. They are stored on my iPhone XR locally and are also not syncing to iCloud. I have restarted my phone, made sure everything is updated to the latest software, and tried a million times to punch in every single option I could have used for this password. I am nearly certain I am using the correct password but it still will not let me in. I have relied on Face ID to get me into these notes and I am no longer being given the prompt for Face ID in either of my locked notes. It works everywhere else on my phone, but not with the locked notes. Doing a factory reset or resetting Face ID will cause that note to become completely disconnected from any authentication system other than the manual password input. I called Apple support and they told me there's nothing they can do to help. There is crucial information that I desperately need in there, if anyone knows anything to do I am desperate at this point.

Face ID no longer working on Notes I have some locked Notes on my phone and used Face ID to unlock them as I wouldn’t remember the password, this has worked fine for ages but now suddenly it requires a password (which I can’t recall!) and isn’t giving me the option of Face ID (which is working on everything else!). Starting over with a new password on new notes is no good, I need access to my old notes for work stuff! What can I do? Seeing questions from 2018 with the same problem and seemingly no solution?

Double check something:

Open Settings ➔ Face ID & Passcode ➔ Other Apps : Ensure that the setting for Notes app is set to ON.

Axel, I appreciate the suggestion but unfortunately the only apps that are under “Other Apps” are ones that have already asked to use Face ID.

There is no way to select others.
