Unable to input my Yahoo.co.uk email

Hi got a new iPhone so transferred my data over. I had to change my Yahoo email password as I’d forgotten my original. Now I can’t get Yahoo on my iPad 3 (phone is fine). I saw a thread where is said that you can’t input an email that is linked to an Apple ID. My daughter uses my email for her ID so that I can help her when she gets into difficulty with it. She has learning difficulties so it is helpful for me to be able to help her from my phone - she doesn’t live with me.

How can I get around this? I can get it on my phone so why not my iPad?

iPad Pro, iPadOS 14

Untrue.

Whilst an email address is used to identify an AppleID account, email accounts are entirely independent and can be configured within Mail Settings - unless the email address is an Apple email address used to identify the AppleID account.

As your Yahoo account is used to identify the AppleID account, this restriction does not apply.

You may find that Yahoo uses an Application Specific Password for email client Apps - this differing from the Password that you use to access your Yahoo account from a web browser. You should verify how your Yahoo account is configured from the Yahoo portal.

Yahoo might alternatively use an OAuth token to identify your account.

In either case, simply deleting and adding a fresh account (using the iPad Add Account Wizard) should resolve the issue.

Thank you, it didn’t make sense to me either as I have always used that account on my ipad previously and it works on my iPhone! Would you be good enough to direct me to the iPad Add Account Wizard. When I try to add account it just says this is an invalid email account. I can’t see any reference to Yahoo on the add email account area - there always used to be one.
