Keep pictures order in slideshow, out of Photos?

I am desperately trying to create a slideshow - if possible avoiding the built-in PHOTOS app, old fashion - selecting all pics in a folder, and be able to change manually.

However, even though I have renamed the pics from 01 to 70 (thus expecting it to play in n umerical order as these appear in the folder), it seems to play randomly.

I have tried this with the PHOTOS app as well (even I want to avoid to depend on this...)

Is the only way to do so is to search a third party app, or can I expect macOS to be able to do what I am trying to do ?

I would have expected that to be really *basic* stuff, but apparently nope...

Try the followin:

1 - select the the photos in the order you want to show them,

2 - Control (right) - click on them and press the Option key.

3 - the Quicklook X Items will change to Slideshow X Items:

5 - selector Slideshow X Items and use the forward/back arrows on the keyboard to traverse thru the slides.

The slideshow, full screen, will start. You'll have a couple of options in the control bar that comes up:
