Selecting Apps/Data from Time Machine to New Mac
Have a 10 year old iMac that died (video card) it's now a black screen. Ran TM before it died to have a recent backup.
I don't want several old apps (adobe, office, iTunes....) screwing up my new clean OS and SSD.
I want my pictures, music (in iTunes - uploads and purchases), Logic files...etc. But I don't want old versions of things screwing up my new SD Drive or the OS.
What is the best way to get everything off of my TIme Machine backup (external drive)? Without just doing a blanket restore and bringing over all the old junk I don't need? I would hate to have old versions of say Adobe, giving me issues with new OS. I want to avoid that like the Corona Virus!
I've used MA for smart devices, but I'm worried about it for this 1TB drive that has everything on it on an older iMac - it's running High Sierra.
I've done a "restore" from TM, but I upgraded the OS that TM was on FIRST. Then put in a new SDD and ran the restore AFTER. I can't do that this time, nor do I want Adobe and old MS apps (among others) iTunes is another major concern.
Would like to know the cleanest way to do this from a TM backup??????????????
