Currently, no matter which music I choose to play, the first few lines or a short piece of music is constantly repeated. How do I stop this so it will go on the next piece?

I had the same issue and was told by Apple to upgrade. When I did upgrade, internet radio was no longer available and I can not find my favorite classical music radio station. Do you have internet radio on your present i tunes?

No I don't. Apple a great selection of music The fvirst five stanzas or so keep repeating.
