How to turn off Styles in Apple Pages

I rarely use Apple Pages, so this definitely is a newbie question.

When I open a new document and type some text, Apple Pages assigns a "body" style to the text. Attached is an image of what I see in Apple Pages under style formatting.

How do I completely turn styles off, so that NO style is assigned to the text? Thx

Pages is not a plain text editor, but rather a word processing application that enters everything in rich text mode, and by default, that means assigning the default body paragraph style. There is no turning off paragraph styles in Pages. You can however, export your Pages document content as plain text afterward.

If you want to enter just plain, unstyled text, either use TextEdit in plain text mode, or a regular text editor (e.g. BBEdit).
