Accessing Remote CD/DVD drive by a 2012 MacBook Pro

Is it possible to use CD/DVD drive sharing if the accessing computer is 2012 MacBook Pro that has a malfunctioning optical drive? I need to load cd-based software that will not operate on my late 2011 MacBook Pro’s OS into the family 2012 model—and this computer’s optical drive does not operate. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated!

Give CD/DVD sharing a try, I can't remember which DVDs it allows you to use.

Another thing that may work is to use Disk Utility to make a DMG of it, then move that file over.
