Hello Momstaxineedsgas,

We are so glad you are reaching out to us today about your Apple ID account and we’re more than happy to help you out. It sounds like you may have received a phishing email to try and obtain your personal information, but let’s make sure first.

What you want to do first is verify whether or not this is an actual email from Apple. The article Identify legitimate emails from the App Store or iTunes Store will help you know where to look and what to look for to verify the email.

After reading over the article above if you think the email you received was a phishing attempt, and you clicked on any of the links, you will want to look over and follow any of the appropriate suggestions in this link If you think your Apple ID has been compromised.

If you entered your Apple ID and password, see Change your Apple ID password. You will want to change your password as soon as possible.

Another good article to read over and bookmark is Recognize and avoid phishing messages, phony support calls, and other scams. It goes over the clever ways these types of attempts to get your information can be made and will help you be aware in the future.

You mentioned you downloaded the attachment that came with this email. There is a program called Malwarebytes and they have a free version of cybersecurity available. This may be something you want to consider downloading to scan your computer. They offer both Mac and PC options.

If you need more help, you may want to contact Apple Support.

We hope you find this information helpful.

Take care!
