suddenly only some devices recognised by thunderbolt macbook pro 16

My iPad, iPod and another USB device won't mount after plugging into thunderbolt ports.

One day I unplugged a CD ROM from a USB expander plugged into one of my thunderbolt ports and suddenly all 4 thunderbolt ports won't recognise my iPad, iPod and another USB device.

All of the other devices that are never unplugged are working and the CD ROM that is rarely plugged in works and mounts 'Music' (iTunes).

iPad and iPod recharge from the ports and are recognised in the system report as devices attached to the thunderbolt ports but won't appear on my desktop or 'Music'.

Ive tried all the resets I can find on the net but none have worked.

Anyone have any ideas to fix this ? Thanks for reading

Thank for your reply but it doesn't work. I tried it again to be sure but both iPad and Pod go straight to recharge but not showing in 'Music' or desktop.

Finder sidebar >Locations

Locate and view your connected device on your computer ...

Customize the Finder toolbar and sidebar on Mac - Apple ...

verify you are showing Locations, move your mouse to the right side of the column— to reveal the hidden Show/Hide option
