Brand new Series 3 Apple Watch OS update not working

Hi, I bought a brand new series 3 gps+cellular apple watch and when I try to pair it with my phone I get the message that I need to download a new software for the watch but I get stuck in the step where it says update cannot be completed because I am not connected to the internet (which I am!!!)

Any thoughts?
