How does a refund work with a merchant you used Apple Pay for?

I do not have an Apple Card or Apple Cash. Apple Pay uses my credit card. 

I paid for this order online via a shopping app with Apple Pay. I need the refund to go to my credit card on file with my Apple Pay. Is that where it will go?
