on the iPad when I turn it to the side the bookmark tab showed up and I don’t see how to remove it.

Are you suggesting that, having scrolled to the very top of the webpage, the Safari Address Bar is missing from the top of the screen?
If scrolling down a long page, the Address bar will be hidden; it should reappear as you scroll upwards.
