Struggling to update Apple ID on my MacBook Air

Hello everybody. I recently changed my Apple ID password and I'm struggling to update my Apple ID on my Mac. It keeps saying I need to get it approved using another device, but I'm using 2 separate accounts for my iPhone 6 and my MacBook Air. Could you please help me out? Thanks.
