Same thought occurred to me some time ago.
Many years ago I worked at an Output Bureau. At that time we had a large Font Library consisting of, predominantly, Postscript Fonts with some TrueType and the odd Adobe Font Master Set. I wanted to know if the library would work in Adobe CC. Which it does.
Turns out Adobe developed the OpenType font format to replace what came before as explained here:
https://www.adobe.com/products/type/opentype.html
After a web chat with Adobe they don't offer fonts in PS format anymore. I did find this site though:

Which you may want to try? A word of caution. "Nastyware" (such as trojans, malware, adware and viruses) were often 'injected' into files masquerading as free downloadable fonts. So be wary.
If you're going to try this on a production machine, back up first. If it was me I would test on a "dirty" Mac (not connected to anything etc and one you can easily flatten and rebuild) first to see what happens.
Good luck.
